When talking about the 18th century Hacienda de San Rafael, the words conservation, restoration and preservation are very relevant. It had been abandoned on what was then an olive farm and passed down from three generations. Only in 1989 did the current family make the decision to preserve the building and begin a 10-year restoration program. The owners decided to restore and transform everything inside the walls because of the beauty, simplicity and the need to preserve the structure.
Initially, the work was carried out in several phases, which was reasonable. After each phase, it was necessary to evaluate and consider how the changes could affect and benefit the guest and the hotel operation. Today, with the 6-hectare mature garden surrounding the Hacienda, secluded outdoor seating areas have ensured crucial privacy.
The hotel has kept a deliberately small size, with 11 rooms and 3 casitas (suites). The service and ambiance, as well as the cuisine run by a local team, are the emphasis.
