Cortijo La Alameda is located a few kilometers from the Lorca village of Fuente Vaqueros, just 15 minutes from the city of Granada. Built during the first half of the 19th century by order of King Ferdinand VII, it belonged to the royal family for more than 30 years and became the monarch’s favorite summer residence. In all that time it became a fabulous reference in the organization of parties of the time, where the nobility and the aristocracy gathered to enjoy the warm summer nights of the vega of Granada. During the war of independence, the farmhouse passed into the hands of the Dukes of Wellington and the building was reformed and adapted to the personal tastes of the dukes. In the 20th century, the building was completely renovated, converting it into a modern and up-to-date construction. Today, despite the passage of time, Cortijo La Alameda retains some details of the original construction designed by Fernando VIII.
